Scientific Name: Zingiber officinale Roscoe. Common Name: Ginger, common ginger, cooking ginger. Family: ZINGIBERACEAE. CAS: 84696-15-1

Ginger is a hardy herb with tall, reed-like stems. Its horizontal rhizomes are as wide as one's thumb, long, irregular and knotty with obtuse, tuberous, fleshy, aromatic favors. Countries of Origin: Southern Asia, India, Japan, China, Western Africa.
It grows well in clayey and sandy soil that is fertile and rich in humus. The blooming period is towards the month of September. Production is via steam distillation of the root. Odor is fresh, spicy, herbaceous. In perfumery, it is used to add nuance to herbaceous, citrus and fruity notes.
