Scientific Name: Acacia farnesiana Common Name: Sweet Acacia, Popinac, Sponge Tree, Cassie. Family: Mimosaceae. Plant Type: Deciduous tree Flower distillate is used as perfume ingredient quite extensively in European perfumery. Plant probably native to Sub Tropical America or Mexico, but it had been cultivated all over the world. It is a hardy tree and will thrive in sandy and dry soil. Its bark and fruit are a source of tannin and used in making dyes and inks.
