Scientific Name: Elettaria Cardamomum Maton
Genus: ZINGIBERACEAE. It is a member of the ginger family. Countries of Origin: India, Guatemala, Sri Lanka. Growth Environment: It grows in mountainous regions at an altitude of 500 to 600 m where the average temperature is 22°C.
It grows well in the shade of trees in moist areas or around watery areas. The plant can reach more than 1 meter. The plant is propagated via rhizomes and seeds in mass cultivation. Blooming period is mainly from January to May.

The capsule harvest takes place from August to October in India and Sri Lanka, but in January in Guatemala. It is produced via seed distillation in steam. It has a spicy and aromatic odors. It is used in perfumery to add spicy nuance to feminine and masculine notes. It is one of the most expensive spice.
